I am an avian biologist currently employed as the education coordinator for Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation. My role is to translate complex environmental topics into easily digestible material that is both engaging and informative for groups of all ages and sizes. I use my biology background to teach about wildlife and provide information to groups about what to do when you encounter wildlife in distress.
In addition to my role as education coordinator, I manage communications and volunteer training for LSWR and serve as one of the tour guides for Saskatoon Custom Bird Tours, a year-round fundraiser for LSWR.
I am passionate about wildlife, the wildlife community, and environmental education, and I am constantly looking for opportunities to contribute my skills and knowledge to advancing environmental efforts in our province.
I am a wildlife biologist with just over four years of experience in the environmental consulting industry, where I have conducted a variety of species-specific and general inventory surveys, habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, and more across Saskatchewan and Alberta.
I am adept at tracking and identifying tracks and signs, and can identify birds by sight and sound.
I am a natural leader who has trained new staff, completed fieldwork independently, and led and coordinated field staff for projects of varying sizes. I am someone who needs to be challenged to maintain interest and who consistently seeks to grow professionally, both within a company and as an independent biologist.
I am highly involved in nonprofit volunteering in the wildlife and environmental sectors and actively seek opportunities to contribute to citizen science.
I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with my BSc. Environmental Biology, Certificate in Sustainability of Natural Resources, and Certificate in Biological Research in 2020.
