I am a recently graduated master's student from Dalhousie University, with a strong scientific track record of innovating methods in the environmental detection of microplastic pollution. I have extensive fieldwork experience throughout Eastern Canada and California; I have worked on microplastic detection of seafood intended for human consumption and atmospheric and seawater samples. Microplastic Project Coordinator and Researcher at The 5Gyres Institute (August 2023 - Present)
A lead researcher and project manager for microfiber / microplastic research with samples collected during a 2-day sail expedition in San Francisco Bay in partnership with the California-based nonprofit The 5Gyres Institute.
Responsible for designing and leading the collection of passive and active atmospheric samples, and assisting with the collection of surface water samples, as part of The Microfiber Pollution and Textile Solutions Expedition aboard a sailboat in the San Francisco Bay Area in September 2023. All samples have been processed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Micro-Raman spectroscopy was completed at Renishaw Canada headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.
