Dylan Walsh

As someone who has studied the modern tourism and hospitality industry and worked tirelessly through the difficulties of the past few years, I feel I have lots to contribute to a new team.

I have had a passion for the hospitality industry since I began my first job back in high school. I started as a host at local franchise restaurant and over five years there worked my way up the company with great customer service skills, organization, leadership, and most importantly hard work.

From here, I took my passion for customer service and began a hospitality management degree at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax. Included in the program was a co-operative education component where I took a job at one of the highest-class golf resorts in Eastern Canada.

For the past three years I have worked seasonally in the golf and accommodations industry where the fine details of service are of the utmost importance. Five-star service is a must, as is strong communication, anticipation of guest needs, guest safety, and vision.

TOURISM & HOSPITALITY WORK EXPERIENCE

Host & Server April 2017 – April 2022

Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch, Dartmouth, NS

• Interacted with customers upon their arrival, as they wait for tables and when closing their final bill
• Planned the seating of all customers to ensure customers were serviced as efficiently as possible while also ensuring equal distribution of customers to the serving staff
• Controlled money and purchase transactions while demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy
• Followed all restaurant standards, codes of conduct, and health and safety regulations
• Trained new employees in the position
• Served guests throughout the entire restaurant experience, taking orders, anticipating guest needs, expediting, and presenting food to guests 
• Worked towards managing food costs with the store owner during a co-op term in summer of 2019
• Followed regulations/standards for multiple restaurant delivery applications

Golf Back Shop Manager (Seasonal Position) May – October 2020 - 2022

Fox Harb’r Resort, Wallace, NS

• Used mainly as the golf department “floater” jumping into any role as it is needed by the team based on guest demands and schedule. 
• Using vision each day to evaluate how the golf course and team is doing, determining which role I can perform as “floater” to maximize efficiency and team morale. Every day is different which is the most exciting part of the job.
• Successfully completed opening duties for the golf department, to set up the entire golf team for the day. 
• Closed the back shop and pro shop in the golf department, cleaning up from a busy day and preparing the team for the next day
• Interacted with members and resort guests to ensure their golf experience was personalized and to exceed resort standards
• Used as a starter on the first tee box, making sure all golfers are aware of rules and regulations and that the golf course remains on schedule
• Marshalled to maintain the pace of play on the golf course
• Planned, set up and facilitated tournaments, large groups, and members events on the golf course
• Worked within a team environment where communication is key for success
