- Successfully researched and mapped out resources, services, and supports for international students on campus by conducting a survey and using the responses to create a comprehensive asset mapping guide. This guide improved access and utilization of available resources for international students. Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and facilitating volunteer training and sharing volunteer engagement opportunities with international students.
- Coordinating all aspects of the new Study and Stay TM Nova Scotia Foundations program, using iCent app technology • Assisting in the development of the curriculum for the Study and Stay Nova Scotia Foundations program as a member of the team.
Retention Coordinator, Cape Breton Island Centre for Immigration January 2021 – June 2022 Highlighted Accomplishment:
- Collaboratively planned and coordinated the 2021 Hello Cape Breton Multicultural Festival in a small team, which attracted 1000+ guests, 40+ multicultural performers and vendors across Atlantic Canada — a 20% increase in newcomer and international student attendance from previous years. Key Responsibilities:
- Networking and maintaining effective working relationships with community organizations such as Cape Breton Partnership, Nova Scotia Works, and CBDC to source sponsorship and event opportunities for newcomers and international students
- Planning and executing ongoing community workshops and events to assist with the personal and professional development of over 200+ international students
- Organizing and facilitating quarterly Island OrientationTours for groups of 20+ international students to enhance awareness of local networking, employment, and recreational opportunities and resources.
