Experience
Instructor Therapist - Full Time - The Portia Learning Centre - Whitby, Canada
(2024-02 - 2024-08)
As an Instructor Therapist I employed applied behavioral analysis (ABA) principles to teach communication, social, academic, play and life skills to children/youth who have ASD. To meet the requirements of the role effectively, I planned out my own sessions around tight schedules and program requirements, and I kept accurate/objective data on clients learning goals and behavior. Also, I consistently had to create/plan new activities and find ways to make learning more fun and natural for the clients that I worked with.
Furthermore, I adhered to ABA principles and used my own judgment to address challenging behaviors in effective/functional ways while maintaining a calm, empathetic, and respectful disposition.
Alternate Program Consultant - Weekly/Biweekly (4-8 hrs) - Footprints 4 Autism - Pickering/Whitby, Canada
(2023-08 - 2024-08)
Assisted in running a program which offers respite for families with children that have been diagnosed with Autism. In this role, I kept children engaged with fun recreational activities, provided leadership and guidance for volunteers, and encouraged growth of abilities such as social/play skills and communication. Additionally, I interacted with family members during pickup/drop-off, and employed de-escalation/prevention strategies when children displayed challenging behaviors.
Banquet Server - Seasonal Part-Time - Deer Creek, Banquet Server - Ajax, Canada
(2022-05 - 2024-02)
Responsible for serving food and beverages to guests in a fast-paced work environment. As a banquet server, I maintained a professional and friendly atmosphere while being attentive to the needs of guests. Teamwork and communication were important completing work tasks and establishing relationships of dependability with co-workers and guests.
