Working as an Interior Designer, she has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Architecture, a Master of Science in Sustainability and Adaptation in the Built Environment and it currently working towards a Diploma in Interior Design in her spare time. She also works to highlight the importance of both material quality and sourcing when designing, with considerations such as upfront embodied carbon and operational carbon. Katie believes that for a design to be great, beauty should not come without optimal functionality, if a space is useful and enjoyed, that only increases it's life-time sustainability.
I have worked in both interior design and architectural firms covering whole house design in both new builds and renovation projects. As well as completing architectural drawing sets I have also produced 3D renders, documentation and populated schedules. Additionally I have been in charge of sample library maintainance including organisation, cleaning and forming relationships with sample reps though in person and email communications.
Another aspec of my work includes communicating to other industry professionals and presenting work to clients.
My education spans Architecture, Sustainable solutions and Interior Design, all of which are extremely relevant to this line of work now and in the future. On top of developing skills in architectural drawing, colour theory and space planning, I have gained extensive knowledge on material choice in relation to embodied carbon, life-cycle and attractive environmental solutions that last.
