Hi,
First of all, my name is Liam. I am an ESL teacher, English language arts teacher and pronunciation coach. I work with private clients offering instruction in English and accent reduction. I also work at an after-school educational centre providing classes in ESL, creative writing, persuasive writing, and reading comprehension.
I've previously lived and worked in Hong Kong China, where I also studied the Cantonese language. I am currently studying diligently to improve my Cantonese and learn Mandarin, as well as written Chinese. I love languages, literature and education more than anything else.
I started teaching English as a second language in 2020, working with the online tutoring platforms Magic Ears and Cambly. I taught small group classes of young students and 1-on-1 classes with adult clients, covering just about every aspect of the language.
In 2022 I relocated to Hong Kong and taught at Monkey Tree English Language Centre for two years, during which time I was in charge of a classroom of up to eight students for hour long classes in ESL speaking, writing and ELA classes on writing prose and poetry.
In 2024 I returned to Canada and worked with the United Way in Windsor Essex as an Academic Intervention Specialist and also started pronunciation and accent coaching through Accent Advisor. In the Summer of 2025, I was the Head Teacher at Tamwood Camps on the university of Mississauga campus. I am currently employed at Starry Academy in Richmond Hill, where I teach a number of courses in ESL, reading and writing for students of grade school and high school age.
I have a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature with a minor in Greek and Roman studies from the University of Windsor. I have two different certificates related to ESL teaching: the 120-hour TEFL certificate from University of Toronto OISE and the 120-hour Advanced TESOL certificate from OnTesol, with an additional specialization in teaching young learners.
