As a graduate of the Forestry Technician program at Algonquin College, I have had the opportunity to learn current forestry techniques and used specialized equipment such as LiDAR in the field. I have also been able to gain insight into sustainable practices that are crucial to the forestry industry.
As a graduate of the Community Recreation and Leadership Training (CRLT) (DEC) program at Dawson College and the Leisure Sciences (BA) program at Concordia, I had the opportunity to work with non-profit and private organizations along with local government to provide services to various communities.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, playing guitar, and cycling. I feel having many interests has allowed me to connect to clients on a more personal level and enable me to grow professionally.
Tree Planter (short-term contract) Oct. 2022 – Dec. 2022
• Assessed tree defects and documented potential future risks to trees and properties.
While a Forest Technician student, I furthered my knowledge of invasive species, fire management, and silvicultural practices. I also gained insight on wildlife needs and how to protect areas of concern. I regularly used Avenza and GIS to collect and organize data.
I became proficient at tree identification and aerial photo interpretation. I also gained insight and collected data on aquatic species.
I had to volunteer for several tree planting operations including at Algonquin National Park where I planted approximately 1000 bare-root red and white pine saplings.
