In the charity sector, I have worked with organisations such as P3, Trident Reach, St Basil's, the Salvation Army, Adullam Homes, Sifa Fireside and Father Hudson Society (Care) in partnership with Tabor Living. Currently I am employed as a 'casual' Relief Overnight Worker. I support people who are experiencing homelessness, including rough sleepers.
I started this role in June 2021. I first worked at the 12 bedded night shelter in Digbeth, next door to St Anne 's Catholic Church. Now I work from Tabor Living's newest project located at St Catherine of Siena Church in Birmingham City Centre.
As a former Senior Social Work Assistant with Children and families between 2005 and 2011 , I gained valuable statutory, family support and case management experience. In addition, I have been a school- based Family Support Worker, a Family Time Worker/Contact Supervisor, Family (Assessment) Support Worker and more recently, an Early Help (Family) Support Worker. Last year I was volunteering with the charity Barnardo's as a Family Support - Family Befriender.
Since October 2011, I have worked in a range of job roles supporting various vulnerable groups including working in schools and colleges. I have also supported children and young people in alternative provisions. The majority of work in this area has been in Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND).
I am currently working as a Learning Support Assistant at Sandwell College, main campus with Foundation Learning. Age range from 16 to 25. Students have in place an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
I am a BA Hons graduate with a degree in Social Policy and Sociology. I have over 20 years of experience working in the charity, social care and education sectors within the West Midlands.
