Young leader in Swansea Brownies branch (Girl Guiding). During my time I acted as a responsible role model for young girls aged 7-10, testing and developing my leadership skills. I worked to produce various crafts and tasks for the girls to participate in and provided demonstrations when needed; I also ensured that I assisted them if they struggled. This required good communication skills in order for the girls to understand what to do. As well as crafts, I also led many games sessions, ensuring that I monitored the girls helping to prevent any injuries from occurring.
BTEC Level 3, Applied Science (Forensic Science) – DDM (Distinction Distinction Merit) @ Neath Port Talbot College.
The course presented various units covering a range of topics. Being heavily science based, I studied Biology, Chemistry, and Physics; along with genetics, forensic science, criminology, and psychology. Each unit had 3-4 assignments from essays to scientific drawings and presentations. I also studied Welsh Baccalaureate over the two years covering global citizenship, enterprise and employability, the community challenge, and the individual project. All of which allowed for a variety of skills to be advanced. An example of this was during the community challenge in which we spent our breaks partaking in litter picking around the community. This massively improved my team work skills, as well as my time management skills due to the time frame we were given to complete our task in.
Bachelor of Science, Criminology and Criminal Justice – 2:1 @ Swansea University.
Recently having graduated in July 2024, I studied the course for 3 years and enjoyed every aspect of it. I explored various areas such as freedom of speech, gender crime, policing, and organised crime. The course presented various projects such as essay writing, timed exams, and PowerPoint presentations, both in groups and individually. I have gained a variety of skills over my time on the course, including but not limited to, critical thinking, research, time management, group work, public speaking, and digital literacy. I enjoyed learning about the area of Criminology and Criminal justice, so have decided to pursue a master’s in it to expand my knowledge of the subject area.
