I am an organised and reliable final year Dental Hygiene and Therapy student currently completing my degree with the University of Birmingham, expecting to graduate July 2026. As a dental nurse, I spent 7 years working within busy practices gaining enhanced teamworking capabilities and understanding of the running of a dental practice. During this time, I was able to complete an Access to Higher Education course in my spare time, highlighting my planning and time management skills, as well as my drive and passion to pursue Dental Hygiene and Therapy.
As a mum of two children, I have developed a calm and patient manner which I bring to my clinical role to reassure and build trust with patients of any age.
Competent in: BSP step-wise approach to periodontal treatment, Local anaesthetic administration Root surface instrumentation, Direct restorations Hall Crown Technique,.
Student Clinics within Birmingham Dental Hospital: Responsible for my own list of patients, contacting and arranging appointments. Assessing and treatment planning, providing treatment to the full scope of a dental therapist for adult and paediatric patients, including anxious patients and those with specific needs. Clinical practice placements integrated with the Dentistry students providing periodontal therapy.
Radiography rotation, taking a mixture of radiographs for adults and children. Extractions of primary teeth on anesthetised children within the Dental Surgery Dept. Observations within the Oral Medicine Dept to aid visual learning of soft tissue abnormalities.
Outreach placements within Birmingham Community Dental Services Adult and paediatric placement in secondary care settings, including Mobile Dental Unit within a primary school. Aston, Brierley Hill, Oldbury and Richmond Dental Clinics.
