Faizah Siddiqua

After completing a year of study at the University of Greenwich studying a BA in Primary Education, I have decided to undertake a gap year, where I hope to extend my opportunities in the field of work before I return to study. I am extremely passionate about my local community and volunteering with strong communication and sociable skills, interested in opportunities in the retail, sales and service industry. I am highly motivated, punctual and eager to further develop my skills through these industries and contribute to the local community.

As someone who has benefited from the existence of charities and youth groups, I understand the importance of this role for the community and have a huge interest in being a part of the industry, especially as some of my family members work in this industry, and I find their work interesting and thus want to experience it myself.

Event Planning Volunteer at Community Organisation (2024-10 – Present)

• Planning free community events with the objectives of uniting the community by including activities for varying demographics across the local area (Tower Hamlets)
• Engaging in open discussion as a team regarding the varying logistics and aspects in planning an event, such as budgeting, fundraising, renting a place and workers, etc
• Overseeing the success of the event as a volunteer participating in different sections on the event day, such as registration, children's activities, and catering

Event Catering Volunteer at East London Mosque (2024-11 – 2025-11)

• Served food to several attendees with great customer service to create a pleasant environment
• Developed interpersonal and communication skills through talking with strangers while serving

Nursery Teacher (University Placement) at Elmhurst Primary School (2024-11 – 2024-11)

• Planned and performed many fun lessons for my nursery class and managed their behaviour to ensure safety and focus in class
• Improved communication and planning skills through adapting plans by learning children's interests and using them to make learning fun for them

Student Librarian at Morpeth School Library (2018-01 – 2020-01)

• Managed the school library by resolving customers' inquiries and book searches, and keeping the library organised by stocking and cleaning shelves
• Developed organising, communication and social skills through cataloguing and shelving books in the right sections and advising customers on book suggestions
