I am a neurodiverse freelance illustrator based in Birmingham with a spectrum of illustration skills including character design, book design, cartoon portraits, concept art and storyboards.
I run two successful freelance art businesses: JW Sketches and JowyB, working with a range of clients on many different projects for authors, local business’, script writers and also have my own range of prints, greeting cards and products. I am able to handle multiple deadlines and projects, work quickly and go above and beyond the clients’ brief. 2017 - present
Owner of JWSketches and JowyB Designs
Currently running two successful freelance business’, trading on Etsy and in stores across Birmingham including The Mac and RBSA Gallery. Offering bespoke commissioning services including cartoon portraits, wedding stationary, pet portraits, resulting in five-star reviews and a returning customer base. Have sold at several art and craft fairs and have managed several clients and their projects over the years.
Work with several charities putting on art workshops for young people, teaching them how to draw characters and design their own cartoons. Was selected to host my own exhibition for a fortnight in Digbeth. Created all the artwork and worked with the team to curate the exhibition, which included a musical experience.

Made in Black Country Project
Worked with a group of artists and archive experts to produce a body of work that celebrated the Black Country. This was exhibited at local venues across the region.

Bearwood Art wit h History Exhibition
Was keen to create some art for my local area so collaborated with a local historian to produce and curate my own exhibition of Bearwood. Here the historian told me stories which I recreated into lively and fun illustrations.

Brand Designer - Monster Mayhem at Star City Birmingham
Worked with the team at Star City to design and produce a brand identity for their indoor play area and design new characters which have been used in the play area and advertising.
