Nico Thompson

I am a recent illustration graduate with a love for creating, designing characters and writing stories for those characters. Through my love for anime/manga, I have an anime inspired art style which I believe sets me apart from a lot of artist. I have experience in designing book covers and logos for my stories and have knowledge on creative softwares such Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint and Procreate.

I’m hardworking and motivated and would love the opportunity to turn my passion into a career.

I am a recent illustration graduate with an honours in illustration, I love to draw, create and design characters and through my studies at university I have gained a lot of experience in working towards briefs and deadlines. Briefs I worked towards include designing book covers for various stories, working in a team to produce children books, designing a record sleeve, creating a concert poster and planning, writing and drawing a 20 page comic book which I printed. Through my time working on these briefs, it allowed me to step out my comfort zone, practice things I wouldn’t usually practice and work on things i would always procrastinate on doing such as a comic book.

Though I gained a lot of experience during my time at university, the bulk of my experience comes from my own work. I have been drawing since I was young, and during this time have learned a lot such as anatomy, dynamic poses, drawing softwares such as Clip Studio Paint and Procreate and colouring and rendering on these drawing softwares. This experience comes from a passion to draw every day to improve my work and turn my passion into a career in the creative industry.

During my studies I have a had a few jobs in hospitality, working at KFC, Sainsbury’s and Nandos. Working in jobs like this allowed me to get used to working in fast paced environments as I had to deal with numerous customers on busy days making sure they have everything they need, being flexible and adaptable in the jobs I undertake during busy periods and general customer service, interacting with different customers during my shifts

I recently graduated with a BA Honours in illustration at Birmingham City University
