I am a hardworking individual who has excellent written and verbal communication skills. I am a passionate, fast learner who looks for new challenges and opportunities. I have excellent problem-solving skills and am well organised.
I believe that within a workplace, teamwork, time management and confidence are key. I am currently studying part-time a distance learning degree at the Open university, here I am working towards a BSc in Healthcare and health sciences. Doing a distance learning course means I am available for part time work with potential for overtime if my studies allow.
During my downtime I like to spend time with my family and my partner. I also thoroughly enjoy working with and training my dogs. I use my free time to read books, typically something fantasy or romance, something to nurture my imagination and escape to alternate realities, I also enjoy reading to expand my knowledge base, typically research and reports regarding the health and welfare of our population.
I also have some unique interests which sometimes put people on edge, such as owning tarantulas, scorpions and mantids.
Volunteering 2015 - 2017 I volunteered at a local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities. This role taught me patience, versatility and made me more empathetic. Surplus to staffing requirements.
Customer service assistant – Tesco June 2018 – Sep 2018 I worked in a large supermarket on checkouts and self-service, this was a temporary position. This role taught me customer communication skills, how to work effectively in a team as well as using a POS system and cashing up. This was a 12-week FTC.
Administration assistant Sep 2019 – April 2020 This role would require me to manage phone calls, emails, following up on client queries and maintaining and updating computerised records. This role required the use of Microsoft office and IT knowledge, of which I developed further during my employment. Stayed at company, changed role.
Support worker April 2020 – Now I am currently a support worker at a local home care company, this role requires me to be punctual, supportive, and precise in my work to as well as to always ensure the safety of myself and the client. In this role I must write detailed records of my day-to-day happenings involving clients. Sometimes my role requires me to escort a client to hospital appointments and taking notes, or other times it may be going with them to a social event.
I currently work with special needs adults who sometimes require further explanations and assistance with day-to-day activities and social environments. I have learnt many skills that allow me to be the best I can be. The transferable skills in this role enables me to be a more patient and helpful employee.
Still in employment, require a 2 week notice period.
