I have worked within a school setting for 38 years and within a secondary setting for 16 years. I currently work in the dyslexia centre and help intergrate students into mainstream settings and support most curriculum subjects.
I love the thought of helping students achieve things they never thought possible. Just seeing their faces when an impossible task to them has become possible.
Helping them become more independent and showing them the world has lots to offer if they try hard enough and that not everyone has the same qualities or learn at the same pace but everyone is able to learn at their own pace if they really want too.
I believe that a smile at the start of every lesson goes a long way and shouting is never the answer. Listen to what is being said and always have an open mind.
I deliver lessons like art, social skills and support lessons with up to 10 students. I am very understanding of all the students individual needs and am a very good listener. I feel I am firm but very Fair. My experience of the years has taught me that setting an example to all students, no matter what you do, eventually reap rewards. I feel I have become a mentor over the years and always have an open door which in my experience has solved a lot of problems.
