I am currently working at a primary school as a SEN learning support assistant. Being able to help young children gives me great satisfaction and joy. I am very trustworthy, reliable and have excellent interpersonal skills.
I am a motivated 23 year old, who is looking to provide support for as many children as possible with the challenges they may face in and out of school. I had the opportunity to volunteer in a secondary school for around a year and a half before working at a primary school where I specialised in supporting those children with SEN. I have also had the pleasure of carrying out a variety of interventions supporting children with bereavement, social and emotional skills.
I have also been able to be a key worker to three students which has been extremely rewarding. I am hardworking and will not stop until a job has been completed. I strive for perfection in everything I do.
I take great pride in my role and want to be able to give more time to those children that need support both inside and outside of education. Currently, I have been supporting a class as a 2:1 for 3 years. It brings me great joy to support these children and help them develop socially and academically.
I would love to be able to support many more children as it is in my character to help children and their families that need additional support.
Whilst I was studying and volunteering, I was working in a Next store. It allowed me to improve my communication skills and instill leadership as I was frequently running a department.
I have been in an education setting for 5 years. I originally volunteered at a secondary school, gaining a vast amount of experience with different special educational needs. I then secured a job in a Primary school which has allowed me to become more confident and knowledgeable around SEN children.
There I have realised that my true passion is to support young people both inside and outside of the school setting. I have also been exposed to the difficulties that children may face outside of school which has given me a new drive to find a job where I can help both the children and families that are struggling. I understand that these can be the barriers that stop children in their school life, therefore my goal is to intervene and support the root course of these issues.
