About
I am a qualified Biomedical Scientist, HCPC registered with excellent communication and research skills developed from my university laboratory to clinical laboratories such as use of pipettes to operating analysers etc. I am applying for this role because the skills in the job description matches with the skills I hold. I'm self-motivated and capable of working with little or no supervision.
I well-come any challenge and would love to be given the opportunity to be able to save lives and make a difference in people’s lives and be part of your science technical team. I am well presented, resilient, frugal, collaborative, polite, courteous, motivated, and committed worker. I work well on my own and am well adept at using my initiative, but I am equally able to work well with other team members.
I pride myself on having always worked with integrity and passion, my belief in everything I do whether it is personal or professional that if a job is worth doing it to the very best of my ability. I am always keen to undertake further training as I am committed to my own personal development. I regard myself as flexible, dedicated and would relish the challenges presented to me in any employment.
I have always proven myself to be an asset within any work. I am an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist currently working within Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Red Cell at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (Trafford General Hospital). I have over seven years of laboratory experience from different disciplinaries and achieved my HCPC registration within a UKAS-accredited service, working to ISO 15189 standards.
I practice autonomously within a 24-hour diagnostic service, undertaking sample receipt, assessment, and processing by the division of laboratory medicine (DLM) Specimen Acceptance Policy. I critically evaluate sample suitability, find pre-analytical errors such as clotted EDTA, or underfilled citrate samples, and liaise directly with clinical teams where clarification or repeat sampling is required. I interpret and enter results on HIVE such as sickle cell, GF’s using professional judgement, ensuring urgent and clinically significant findings are always communicated promptly to service users such as Gp’s, clinicians and documented appropriately.
Within
Haematology and Coagulation, I often shadow BMS’s carrying out analysis and interpretation of FBC, blood film morphology, ESR, D-dimer, and coagulation profiles. I understand theoretical knowledge of haemostasias and Haematology pathophysiology when confirming abnormal results and correlating findings needs to be applied.
In Blood
Transfusion, I work side by side with BMS’s while undertaking blood grouping, antibody screening, cross-matching and safe issue of blood components, keeping strict traceability and compliance with transfusion governance standards. I routinely perform analyser maintenance, calibration and internal quality control on platforms including Variant II, Sysmex XN2000, CS-250
