I currently work in administration in Finance at Robert Gordon University.
I work together as part of the team, assisting with the administration of financial assistance funds and dunning letters. I take phone calls daily where I answer students’ queries about tuition fees, take payments over the phone, and transfer the calls to the appropriate member of staff or appropriate department. I advise students about the steps of reinstatement if they have been withdrawn or if their Campus Moodle Access has been taken away, which is communicated clearly and accurately.
I have strong interpersonal skills by handling conflict, remaining calm and communicating clearly and effectively. I use Cedar to check the records of payments from students and SITS to check student records. I use MS Teams to communicate with colleagues from other departments if they are working from home or speak in person when advice is needed.
Often, it is needed to communicate with other departments, such as the Student Help Point, Immigration, or Admissions. I often ask for advice from my colleagues in certain cases and liaise according to university policies.
I received a Certificate of Excellence from Robert Gordon University in October 2023.
I have strong written and oral communication skills, as I worked at the Supported Enrolment of the university. During the enrolment process, I gained experience using my initiative without supervision and my communication skills explaining to new students the process of enrolment and answering questions if they had. For the past years, I was a Student Ambassador of the university, where I enjoyed getting to know people and providing Campus Tours to prospective students and was trained in the university’s fire evacuation plan.
Additional tasks involved to guide students across campus, printing out student cards, queue management, advising students about how to register at the GP and dentists, how to open a bank account, how to get a NI number and the transport option to campus.
I worked in a busy café where I gained experience in front-line customer service and teamwork. I have 10 years of retail experience of Costa Coffee with experience serving customers at the counter and using the Epos Till system during sales. As I was a supervisor, I was responsible for preparing daily banking in cash and placing float to the tills.
My daily tasks involved placing orders in the morning and processing deliveries in WRS Stockade, which needed accuracy to ensure that the delivery was correct by matching items with a delivery note. Daily administrative tasks included filing the delivery notes, checking emails daily, and ensuring that the Compliance Book was completed. While serving customers, it was essential to ensure good customer care by being helpful, friendly, and approachable and acknowledging customers as they entered the store which is the first stage of interaction.
During my placement in the USA, I was a hostess for six months, where I greeted guests entering and leaving the clubhouse. I was responsible taking reservations and updating the bookings of guests on the computer. My tasks involved to greet guests on arrival and accompany them to their tables, where I briefed them about daily specials and the name of their server.
I enjoyed making small talks with guests and getting to know them, as this showed a friendly staff attitude towards them, so they were likely to return.
