Housing Officer - Pivotal Housing - Redruth

Managed 5 Houses of multiple occupation and 5 private let properties. I enjoyed my role as housing officer for Pivotal and was sorry to leave. I gave in my notice as I stood for election in May 2025 and felt as I had been selected I had to give it all my focus. I was unsuccessful, I have continued as Relief for Livewest at Carthew House St Austell. My manager said I was excellent at collecting rents and monitoring payment plans and was very organised and was to see me go.

• To deliver exceptional customer service and promoting advocacy and signposting to appropriate lifestyle services
• To operate the day to day running of the development
• The daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly checks of the building for health and safety and fire regulations and completion of associated documentation
• Quarterly apartment checks, checking fire doors, alarms etc
• Proactive and effective relationships with internal and external customers, key suppliers and relevant authorities, whilst maintaining professional boundaries

• Support to apply for benefits entitled to, support to get on the housing register and home choice
• To provide support and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
• To draw up a support plan for each resident for their personal development and prepare them for independent living
• To have weekly 1:1 to check in and see if there are any issues they need support with
• This can increase if there is a downward spiral with depression etc and involve other agencies with clients permission
• To liaise with other agencies, Wavy, Social workers, Midwifes, Police/PCSOs, Home choice
• To support with visits to the job centre, doctors, dentist or court or encourage to go and motivate
• To encourage independent living and help with life skills, budget planning, cooking etc
• To promote healthy living and encouragement to keep clean, tidy room and support with cooking healthy meals if required
• To link with the vocational development project for training, volunteering to improve confidence and independence
• To liaise with colleagues and work together as a team

• To encourage independent living and help with life skills, budget planning, cooking etc
• To support keeping clean, tidy room, washing clothes and weekly room checks as this can be one of the first signs of a downward spiral, depression, drugs, owing money etc
• To liaise with other agencies, Wavy, Social workers, Midwifes, Police/PCSOs, Home choice
• To support them to apply for Universal credit and whatever benefits they are entitled to and register with Home choice
• To help support and make a plan going forward, there may be setbacks and it may take longer but to focus on the end goal
