I have recently completed my BSc with a major in marine biology and a minor in renewable energy and management. My recent work experience in the marine research station and a marine reserve has allowed me gain valuable experience in environmental research, environmental planning as well as learning about the UK laws and legislation which govern varied protect species and endangered environments.
I have worked on a number of contracted environmental projects including coral restoration, environmental impact assessments and biodiversity. I have significant experience working within diverse field settings including freshwater environments (rivers, estuaries), marine environments (seagrass beds, mangroves, coral reefs, intertidal zones) and terrestrial environments (dry limestone forest, temperate forest, grasslands, wetlands). In my most recent roles as a volunteer researcher and a research/laboratory assistant in the life science department I gain significant experience in a number of laboratory settings.
I am able to conduct a wide variety of experiments in several disciplines including molecular biology, genetics and toxicology. Working within a marine reserve I was exposed to several of the laws and protection legislations which affect the varied environments which the reserve protected.
