With my legal background and meticulous attention to detail regarding English texts, for over 20 years I have on a full-time basis proofread and edited 100s of manuscripts both for publishers and individuals intending to submit their papers to journals. I deal with a wide range of topics such as cutting-edge science, engineering, legal, medical, humanities, commerce and financial subjects, etc. I have never turned down a job so have amassed a broad knowledge through a great deal of reading around the subject.
I have regular clients who would be more than happy to provide references for whom I am used to adhering to style guides. I normally charge by the number of words so I was unsure of what hourly rate to quote.
I qualified in 1995 as a solicitor handling personal injury claims as I successfully completed the first year of medicine at Sheffield University before returning to Hong Kong where I started my own proofreading and editing business, HKNETS, through my website in 2003.
