I recently graduated from The University of Warwick with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science, including first-class equivalents in study abroad between my second and third years. In September, I am excited to begin my Master's in Genomic Medicine at the University of Birmingham. I am keen to explore new opportunities beyond the lab that broaden my horizons, with a strong interest in science communication, genetic counselling, and intellectual property.
These fields allow me to merge my passion and competence in both English and Science.
My academic journey has cultivated a deep appreciation for both the arts and sciences, driving my enthusiasm for learning, communication, and personal growth. I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with an educational background that includes GCSEs, A-Levels, study abroad modules, and a Level 2 Counselling certification, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed and performed highly in.
Throughout my studies, I have actively participated in various hobbies and volunteer work, such as gymnastics coaching, Girlguiding, and yoga. During my time at Warwick, I expanded my involvement in yoga as President of the Warwick Yoga Society. Additionally, I received the Warwick Award (Gold) for completing over 300 hours of volunteering activities, including working with disabled, ill, and disadvantaged children in hospitals, writing for HerCampus magazine, my work experience and my leadership positions.
In addition to my academic achievements and volunteer work, I have held several part-time jobs, primarily in bar staff and waitressing roles. These experiences have honed my teamwork, communication, relationship-building, and time-management skills. I have also completed multiple work placements and internships, including roles in Medical Communications and Publishing with Magdalen Medical Publishing and Civil Service experience with Bright Network Public Sector, Policy, and Charity.
My leadership capabilities are demonstrated through my roles in student leadership teams during secondary school and sixth form, where I served as Deputy Head and Marketing Officer respectively. Most recently, I served as President of The University of Warwick Students’ Union Yoga Society.
I am eager to connect with professionals and explore opportunities that align with my interests and skills.
