A conscientious and highly focused individual I am keen to embark on a new career position, develop my knowledge base and skills set. I have demonstrated my ability to learn quickly and apply myself to new tasks: my friendly approachable manner and sound interpersonal skills have allowed me work effectively within any team. I am known as a reliable and punctual worker who can manage my workload effectively under both time and budget constraints.
I have over four years' experience in the automotive industry, achieving a qualification in vehicle body refinishing (Spray Painting). This was acquired whilst working on the job but I also carried out training every two months at the Glasgow Training Group (GTG) College. I served my full apprenticeship at the Arnold Clark body shop in Woodilee Kirkintilloch and over the four years I had become confident in my own abilities.
Along with spray painting I learned other skills such as weleting, how to machine polish vehicles and how to work well within a team. I particularly enjoyed the transformation after the refinishing process and being able to take pride in my own work. I also enjoyed stripping the cars and putting the back together after the painting process, this taught me how to be competent with my hands and the use of tools.
Currently I am working as Food and Beverage supervisor and Duty Manager at the Glasgow Marriott hotel. I have worked here since 2011 and started as a bar associate and came in to this position with little experience of dealing with the public but as my confidence grew so did my skills. I have acquired key skills in communication and working in a team, furthermore I have gained invaluable experience in dealing with customers and the public in a range of different situations.
After being part of a hard working successful team for several years I decided to apply for the role of supervisor and was successful. I have thoroughly enjoyed leading a team, assisting the department manager with hiring staff, training, drink promotions and problem solving, these are all transferrable skills that will take in to my new role. As a Duty Manager for the whole hotel I have gained invaluable experience from dealing with many incidents such as dealing with rowdy intoxicated guests, fire evacuations and also dealing with the emergency services to report crimes on our premises and also to seek medical help for guests who have slipped or fallen etc.

After spending over 13 years developing my skills and working my way up to Supervisor and Duty Manager I felt that it was time to progress my career in the hospitality industry and an opportunity came up for me to take on the role of Food & Beverage manager at the Glasgow Argyle Hotel. My new responsibilities I have taken on are; Recruitment- I hired a full team as the hotel was closed before I started the role. This meant I had to create job adverts, interview suitable candidates and hire them if they met the right criteria.
Along with this I had to fully train the team and delegate tasks to my assistant manager and my two supervisors I had hired.
Taking- as the hotel does not employ a stock taker these responsibilities belong to me such as ensuring departments are fully stocked and that the items we sell match what the hotel brand standards are- as for ordering the stock I use a system called Procure Wizard which I had to learn myself with little training. Organising and looking after small meetings to larger functions- during the week we usually have small meeting rooms set by my team for clients such as Glasgow City Council or larger functions such as looking after the SFA for a recent Girls U17 tournament- we provided breakfast, lunch, dinner, super and snacks to four different national football teams, the coaches and delegates for the competition. Other roles I take on is meeting clients and suppliers, dealing with complaints if they arise to ensure the guest leaves happy or at the very least satisfied.
I also do between two to four Duty Manager shifts a week to ensure guest safety, report any maintenance issues and ensure all other departments are supported should they need help.
