• I assist patients with daily activities such as bathing and dressing, always prioritising their dignity and comfort.
• I monitor symptoms and help manage pain or discomfort, working closely with healthcare professionals to adjust care plans as needed.
• I am able to communicate effectively with patients and their families. Emotional support is key skill when working in palliative care and something I have become a lot more confident with since working at Beaumond house.
• I offer a listening ear and emotional reassurance, helping patients and their families navigate the challenges of palliative care.
• I engage with family members, providing them with support and education about the care process to enhance their understanding and involvement.
• I also work closely with other healthcare providers, GP's, DN's, and volunteers to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Clinical Support Worker - NHS - Lincoln, Lincolnshire

In my role as a clinical support worker on the oncology ward, I played a crucial part in delivering compassionate care to patients battling cancer. Each day presented unique challenges and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those undergoing treatment. Understanding the emotional weight that a cancer diagnosis carries, I took time to listen to patients and their families.

I provided a comforting presence, offering reassurance and empathy. Sometimes, it's simply about being there—holding a hand or sharing a moment of laughter to lighten the mood. My role as a clinical support worker on an oncology ward was deeply fulfilling.

I strived to support patients and their families through one of the most challenging times in their lives, always aiming to provide a blend of physical, emotional, and practical assistance. Each interaction reinforced my dedication to compassionate care and the importance of teamwork in a healthcare setting.

• I assisted patients with various activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and mobility. It was essential for me to ensure that each patient felt comfortable and dignified, especially during vulnerable moments. I also helped with feeding when necessary, always mindful of any dietary restrictions or preferences.
• I worked closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare staff to coordinate care. This includes attending team meetings to discuss patient progress and contributing to care plans as well as attending handovers. I believe that effective communication was vital in ensuring that we met the individual needs of each patient.
• In addition to direct patient care, I managed various administrative tasks. This involves maintaining accurate patient records, updating information promptly, and ensuring that all documentation is organised and accessible. My attention to detail helped facilitate seamless communication among the care team.
• I prioritised infection control and cleanliness in the ward. Regularly cleaning and organising patient areas was part of my routine, as I understand how critical a sterile environment is for immunocompromised patients. I followed strict protocols to ensure safety.

Senior Care Assistant - Copper beeches care home - Collingham, Nottinghamshire

As a Senior Health Care Assistant, I played a crucial role in providing essential support and care to patients in the care home. My responsibilities included assisting individuals with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation, ensuring their comfort and dignity throughout the process. In this role, I made a significant impact on the quality of life for those I assisted, enhancing their overall health and well-being.

• I helped patients with hygiene and personal tasks, promoting their independence.
• I observed and reported any changes in patients' conditions to my managers, ensuring that they receive the best possible care.
• I offered companionship and emotional reassurance to both patients and their families. I worked closely with other members of my team such as other seniors and management to implement care plans and improve patient outcomes, contributing to a cohesive care environment.

I worked with lots of different aged members of staff and communicated effectively with them. It is a fast working environment and i was able to keep a levelled head in stressful situations. I served customers and deal with any concerns they have in a fast and effective way. I was friendly and welcoming to customers and did my best to help keep customers happy. I made food in the kitchen as well as drinks in the drinks cell, i was able to do this and keep a levelled head even when we're busy.
