Chemical Operator Apprentice - Dow Silicones

While working at Dow silicons I gained valuable experience in the operating, production and chemical industry. I have signed off and worked on multiple plants on site including distillation, fluid bed reaction, hot oil and refrigeration plants. I worked with multiple types of instrumentation including Pneumatic, pressure safety, pressure relief valves and temperature safety Valves while also working with Differential pressure transmitters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters and flow transmitters.

I learned how all the instrumentation worked including all of the above as well as gear pumps, centrifugal pumps, compressors and industrial fans. I have worked on and written safe work permits, as well as more in depth permits for more specified jobs including working at heights, hot work, electrical work and heavy machinery. I have worked on procedures for jobs on site including maintenance and preparation for maintenance.
