Nayef Kabalan

I possess more than 7years of experience in the humanitarian field between being a volunteer in the Lebanese Red Cross, Community Health Worker at IOM-UN and Field Officer – Community Engagement at Solidarités International.

My experience of more than 2 years at IOM and recently at Solidarités has gained me great knowledge of working on field with a variety of nationalities and populations, this diversity helped a lot with the principles of dealing with vulnerable populations and their basic needs. My participation in Covid vaccination marathons of 2021 provided me with experience of documentation, registration, transportation and accommodation for a big number of migrants and refugees thus leading to the ability to easily assess and evaluate their needs.

In addition to the previous expertise, I acquired the ability to collect data from refugees easily and to fill out forms and surveys to upload data for safekeeping.

Registration and transportation of migrants and refugees from and to vaccination centers gave me ease in understanding the ins and outs of their papers and how to deal with the common issues encountered whilst handling documents.

Plus, giving awareness sessions and outreach work amplified furthermore the ability to communicate with migrants, refugeesand people with diverse ethnical and religious backgrounds.

My recent work in the screening and testing of prisoners at Roumieh prison for Tuberculosis in addition to follow-up of civilian patients outside of prison, gave me additional confidence in dealing with various types of prisoners that some people might describe as dangerous, and the necessity of communicating with each person in the safest and most efficient way possible. Thus leading to my adaptation to working in volatile and complex situations plus insecure environments.

Not to forget my 7 years of experience in The Lebanese Red Cross, reaching the level of mission leader, driver and scout status which gave me great communication, management and teamwork skills. Reactivity and dedication is a must in this field of work to ensure saving a life. Coaching trainings gave me an added value in public speaking skills and dissemination techniques highly needed in field work.

Taking into consideration my recent position at IOM and current one at Solidarités International, I have acknowledged the rules, regulations and code of conduct that amplified and grew my ambition to progress further more in non-governmental organizations due to high respect of people’s dignity and values.
