Production – Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities

• In charge of the Engineering department made up of 2 manufacturing engineers, 1 process engineer, 1 industrial engineer, 2 production supervisors, 1 test technician, 6 process technicians and 1 engineering change technician.
• Create and execute work plans to cover the needs and requirements of clients and department indicators.
• Develop continuous improvement projects to reduce costs.
• Responsible for the development and updating of routings of the products to be processed in Juarez plant.
• NPI´s
• Generation and validation of engineering changes.
• CAPEX project budget administration.
• CAPEX project management.
• Supplier administration.
• Management of SQDC indicators.
• Installation of production lines.
• Ensure the safety of personnel and operation by establishing safe methods and processes.
• Launch and validation of new products.
• Coordinate the engineering team to identify and resolve operational problems.
• To plan the processes validation and provide the tools and documentation to produce parts in a timely manner.
• Guarantee quality standards through effectively validated methods and processes.
• Identify processes that are bottlenecks and coordinate plans and activities to improve flow in the operation.
• NPI´s
• Project leader for the transfer of the manufacturing process of Drive Lines for agricultural and construction machinery with processes like CNC machining, welding, heat treat, cut cell, assembly, and paint line. Working directly with the Leadership Team at the West Bend Wisconsin plant for development the activities plan for the transfer of the process to the Juarez Chihuahua Mex plant.
• Responsible for managing resources for preparation and installation of the building for the project.
• Responsible for the installation and commissioning of all equipment of the process.
• In charge of the production, engineering, and maintenance areas.
• In charge of 2 Manufacturing Engineers, 6 Manufacturing Tech Processes, 3 Production Supervisors, 6 Team Leader and 63 Operators.
• Responsible for the launch, development, validation, and start-up of the project using the Core Tools.
• Responsible for complying with KPIs metrics: safety zero accidents, internal & external PPMs, scrap %, production rate according to MPS and overtime cost.
• Responsible for developing the budget of the department and keeping expenses within goal.
• Responsible for anticipating, organizing, integrating, and controlling the operations of the production area.
• Leader in the implementation of work teams in the production area in charge.
• Coaching and training operations personnel, production supervisors and processes for the launch of the project in the Juarez plant.
• Implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools in the process in charge, such as 5s, TPM, Poka-yokes, SMED, Kanban, Gemba walks to detect areas of opportunity regarding safety, quality, productivity, needs of workers and the process, monitoring boards to KPIs of the production area.

Achievements:

• Training and integration of the work team of the transfer project.
• Validation of the process to be able to ship to clients in compliance with the PPAs, CPKs capacity studies.
• Successful launch of the project, producing 1.4 million of sales in the first month.
• Turnover of 0.6% and absenteeism of 4.5%.
• YTD scrap rate = 1.4% of a goal of 1.90%.
• Implementation of poka-yoke to eliminate safety conditions and tooling damage in broaching machines. This improvement is shared with the West Bend plant.
• Consolidation of the inventory of all the necessary tooling for the operation of the machining area and rest of the other processes.
