Curiosity has always been in me and it has brought me to dabble in different fields, mainly in science and arts. I'm Jerlyn, a fresh graduate from University of Queensland with BSc Food Science and Nutrition.
Before studying as an international student at UQ, I was an industry player as a QA management trainee in Occasions Catering. Through this role, I became well-versed in Singapore's food regulation and Halal certification. At UQ, I have repeatedly been exposed to a wide diversity of cultures. This has made me adapt to changes quicker and gain a broader perspective.
I am always curious and enjoy learning so I like to put myself out in the field and learn as much as possible. During my academic life, I participated in many campus activities including volunteering, performing and being part of a club committee. In my spare time, I bake and play the piano.
Prior to higher learning at UQ, I was a QA management trainee at Occasions Catering for 18 months. I was responsible for the food safety aspect of the business where I conduct routine inspections and liaise with parters to assist Occasions Catering in the process of attaining FSSC 22000.
In UQ, my areas of focus are nutrition & exercise, functional foods, food safety and quality management and food product development. Aside from maintaining my grades, I was actively involved in on campus volunteering opportunities.
