I am Kevin Kao, a 51-year-old Singaporean who resides in Thailand. I grew up in Singapore, received my primary and secondary education there, and obtained my BA and MA from University of Tasmania, Australia. I may not be classified as a ‘Native Speaker’ due to my nationality and race, but that does not mean I am any less capable. I taught English and ESL to numerous classes and students, and they have all obtained impressive results.
I have taught for 24 years: in Singapore public and private schools, international schools in Bangkok, and tutored and guest-lectured in University of Tasmania, in government school in China, and in an international school in Surabaya, Indonesia. I have been appointed Subject Coordinator, Head of Department, Internal Examination Officer, Curriculum Reviewer, and Level Coordinator throughout my career. I have always taught English Language (both first and second language - IGCSE/AS/AL) and Humanities subjects.
I have also conducted professional development courses for fellow teachers of my previous schools. I am a firm believer of continuous learning, which makes me a supporter for staff training and development. I believe that regardless of age, race and/or nationality, everybody deserves opportunities to learn and grow.
I am a team player, at the same time, often regard the learners as priority because we are meant to prepare them for their future. In areas which are unknown to me, I am willing to learn, and pick up required skills.
I am positive that my experiences will allow me to make contributions to your organisation. Therefore, I sincerely hope that you will award me an opportunity to teach and be part of your School.
24 years of experience in teaching English.
I am experienced in teaching IGCSE ESL, FLE, AS/AL English, Global Perspectives, Global Perspectives and Research, and Sociology.
