Marc Alary

I am a hydrogeologist with more than 20 years experience in water resources management.

Along my career in several parts of the world (South-America, Europe, Asia) I have been involved in projects related to exploring, developing and preserving groundwater.

I have worked in different businesses, like mining (Chile), water management for municipal supply (France) and more recently in the Food&Beverages industry (UAE and Thailand).

In my current position, i have been able to broaden my competences in areas like Water Stewardship, Community Relations and Sustainability.

My experience across different geographies and cultures has enabled me to easily adapt to changing environments. I am a very collaborative person, always looking at enabling results through others.

Since 2014 - Water Resources Manager (Asia & Sub-Saharan Africa), Nestle (Dubai, Bangkok):

• Support sites for optimized water management
• water resources assessment for brownfields/greenfield
• Water Pledge: bring sites to 100% water regeneration by 2025
• Water Stewardship: bring all water sites to AWS certification 
• Community Relations: help define and implement action plans 
• Ensure multi-stakeholder engagement on shared water challenges
• Packaging sustainability: support markets in their recycled PET roadmap

2008 - 2014 - Corporate Hydrogeologist, Veolia (Paris):

• Technical support to BUs on well management and groundwater protection
• Deployment of well management best practices and tools 
• Ensure operability of R&D projects 

2005 - 2007 - Development Manager for well diagnosis and rehabilitation, SADE CGTH (France):

• Development of a client portfolio: public/private water suppliers, industries.
• Supervision of well video inspections and geophysical logging

2004 - 2005 - Project Engineer, Anteagroup (France):

• Supervision of water wells drilling and completion
• Sensitivity assessment of groundwater to pesticides in rural areas
• Modelling impact of new projects on groundwater

1998 - 2003 - Hydrogeologist at Escondida Mine, BHP (Chile):

• Management of a groundwater monitoring network
• Design and construction of dewatering wells in the open-pit
• Exploration of new groundwater resources (end-to-end project)
• Remediation of a sensitive wetland in the Salar de Punta Negra
