Alma Barrera is a healthcare and nonprofit professional with over 15 years of proven experience. She received a B.S. in Athletic Training from the University of La Verne in January, 1999. Most recently, she was the inaugural Director of the Helen and Bill Close Family Resource Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Together with a team of staff and volunteers, she established educational and social programs & services for inpatients & outpatients of the hospital as well as the neighboring community. She started her career at Children’s L.A. as the Volunteer Coordinator where she oversaw over 650 active volunteers in 85 areas of the hospital. Previously, Alma was an advocacy volunteer for the American Cancer Society and served in the dual role of Legislative Ambassador and Community liaison.
