Blythe Nelson

I have been working with children and young adults for over 5 years across a variety of environments and have fallen in love with serving our most vulnerable youth. Along the way I have gained experience in education that helped me become well equipped for what it takes to support children of all needs and abilities. I am called to build strong and caring relationships with our future generation, especially the ones who need it most.

I am passionate about advocating for children who need a voice. I desire to improve their emotional wellbeing and success in all areas of life.

Emotional Disturbance Special Education Teacher - Lexington Two, Cayce Elementary - Cayce, SC

• Supervised and educated caseloads of students with emotional disturbances and mental health disorders. I would also respond to student needs.
• Planned and led academic and behavioral activities based on IEP goals and kept data of progress. Attended IEP meetings and parent-teacher meetings when needed. I also attended any school events that were planned and participated in teacher PD. Lastly, I collaborated with other school staff and teachers in order to serve students effectively.
• Led a peer support buddy group for my students containing general education students in order to promote friendship and inclusion.

Pediatric Rehabilitation Aid - Petite Rehab - Columbia, SC

• Supervised and assisted with pediatric physical therapy sessions. Led warm ups and cool downs for each session.
• Took care of administrative responsibilities such as assisting with billing, scheduling, documentation, confidential communication with doctors and parents, and other basic office tasks.
