I have worked full time as a Public Health professional and part-time as an Ocean Lifeguard for two separate lifeguarding agencies, the State of California and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. After working in Opioid crisis response for 2 years and CoVID outbreak control for another two, I earned my Masters of Public Health Policy from the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA with an emphasis and certificate in Global Health. During my grad school tenure, I was afforded the opportunity to travel and work throughout the world and the United States through multiple grant funded fellowships, providing a multitude of experiences, including but not limited to attending the 2016 World Health Assembly at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, as a student delegate on behalf of a multinational NGO. After grad school, I have been afforded the opportunity to work in training Tribal entities throughout California on how to best deliver complex care to their members who were experiencing opioid or substance use disorder. In that role, I was also charged with data collection, analysis and reporting alongside taking on the monitoring and evaluation for the other state-funded programs who were tackling other issues presented by the crisis. I thoroughly enjoy my career and the education I have been blessed with in getting there, one thing I’ve been wanting to do since my fellowship in South Africa, is to return to work in Africa, and Nigeria being one of the strongest sub-saharan states policy and economics-wise, has always been somewhere where I’ve wanted to further my career and learn more about the culture. I also have professional experience in statistical analysis and reporting in my field and have been a co-author for several published works.
