Innovative Senior IT Director for Department of Health in Florida. Florida Department of Health is comprised of over 67 counties that oversee a combined state and local entity. in the Department of Health statewide for various projects such as the following: Data Modernization for DOH statewide, regionalizing IT for county health departments, Part of Leadership board of AI integration statewide, Oversee IT strategic Planning, budget, and management of 7 Counties: Orange, Volusia, Flagler, Seminole, Putnam, Nassau and Monroe health departments. 19 counties in total for SharePoint and programming applications. Duties include overseeing 35 IT Positions and 5 Supervisors To support various IT functions within the region. Meet with Executive Management in the consortium counties to provide project oversight and management for supporting IT projects. Provide various IT support to surrounding counties such as Lake, Osceola, Marion, Citrus, Polk, and Manatee County Health Departments.
● Created multiple county Regional IT departments including charter for the Central Florida IT Consortium consisting of 7 counties.
● Consolidation of 2 help desks to create a regional help desk servicing 19 counties.
● Consolidation of staff supporting Electronic Health Record Health Management Systems for 8 counties.
● Consolidation of 2 Data Centers resulting in a recurring saving of 140,00 yearly. This reduced power consumption and cooling costs by 85 percent. Duplicated this project for Osceola, Manatee, and Lake Health Departments.
● Completed Migration of data center October 2024 to Microsoft Azure and Northwest regional state data center.
● Standardizing multifunction copier configurations for printing, copying, faxing, and scanning for all DOH statewide.
● Implemented Video Direct Observed Therapy (VDOT) for statewide use to monitor Tuberculosis clients taking medications remotely. Currently working on a similar project for STD patients.
● Chair of the Florida DOH Enterprise Advisory Council. This group provides direct feedback to the CIO for state-wide projects. The current project includes the setup and deployment of Cherwell statewide.
● Implemented client service tracking system to create a data center approach to serve 7 neighboring counties. Created a saving per county of $50,000 dollars per year. System has improved clinical efficiencies by up to 30 minutes per day while increasing customer satisfaction by 10 percent. A savings in our WIC department of $365,000 per year. Awarded a Davis Productivity Award and a NACCHO Practice and a Best Practice award. The program is now up to 14 counties and is in the process of going statewide.
