I have lived in Crossville since 1998. I have been a mortgage broker since 1993 and moved to Crossville in 1998 to work for Herman Sweeney and open First Cumberland Mortgage. When the mortgage business collapsed in 2009, I worked for Fairfield Glade Resort as the Senior Marketing Manager.
I was employed there for eleven years. In 2019 I was lured back home in the mortgage business. I am looking for a part time position that will put me in front of the public. I have been a remote worker for seven years, and I miss being in public.
I have three grown children, and a 15-year-old son John Rains currently enrolled in CCHS. Other than attending closings three or four times a month, I leave the house for a bowling league at Plateau Lanes. This will allow me to meet and greet visitors to our wonderful town and share my knowledge of all there is to do.
I began originating mortgages for Great Western Bank in North Palm Beach Florida on October 1, 1992. I worked with them for three years and moved to Knoxville, TN to run First Mortgage Lenders. Inc. I was the Vice President of Sales for from late 1995 until early 1998.
I was the number one mortgage originator at First Cumberland Mortgage for 7 years. In 2006 I was hired back by First Mortgage Lenders and worked their until 2010 when I joined Fairfield Glade Resort as a marketer, and was promoted to supervisor in six months, sales manager in one year and senior sales manager a year after that. I worked there until June of 2019 when I came back into the mortgage business.
I graduated Florida State University with a B.S. in Social Sciences with a specialty in Urban and Regional Planning. College was great, but my real education has been working with home buyers to help them buy their first home. My time at Fairfield Glade brought me closer to the community, as I partnered with businesses like Chuckles, Rocky Top 10, Simonton's Cheese Shop, Bear Trace Golf, and several restaurants were promoted and we would provide packages, or discounts for guests as gifts to attend a sales presentation.
I learned how important marketing can be for a small business. I made many lifelong friends.
