Cris Shapira is the current Executive Director of the St.
Foundation. She was born and raised in Saint Paul and is married to retired SPFD fire captain and SPFF founder Steve Shapira. Cris worked for several financial and asset management firms prior to taking the foundation position. She has taken her background in asset and relationship management and paired it with her extensive knowledge and experience of the fire service. Her unique skill set has enabled her to work not only with fire administration and labor, but directly with firefighters as well.
In 2014 her husband was diagnosed with cancer. He had been a firefighter since 1998 and his cancer was a result of exposure on the job. This forever changed her values and priorities. Living for today, helping others and making a difference in peoples lives are now her main motivating factors.
Giving back and helping others has become a way of life for Cris. She is an avid hockey fan. She is a season ticket holder for Gopher Hockey and a fan of the Minnesota Wild and Las Vegas Golden Knights. She also loves how the NHL is committed to their communities. The love of the game, the support for their fellow players and their pursuit and commitment to philanthropic causes off the ice is legendary. To her, philanthropy is what makes communities sustainable for generations to come.
