I graduated Columbia College this December with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and have research experience both at Columbia and at Princeton University. Since graduating, I have been working for the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art and volunteering for the Center of Justice at
Columbia’s school of public health. I would love to bring my research experience to your project.
My first research experience was working in MacArthur fellow Betsy Levy Paluck’s lab at Princeton University. I entered data for a study on Orthodox Jewish women from a community in Williamsburg and coded data for a prejudice reduction meta-analysis. I participated in meetings with the team to discuss the inclusion criteria of papers for the meta-analysis and then identified papers from the search results that met these criteria by reading upwards of a thousand abstracts and, if necessary, delving deeper into the methods and outcomes of the studies. I did similar work for Dr. Antebi-Gruska, an assistant professor at Columbia, for their study on LGB and TGE (transgender and gender expansive) suicidality in Israel, the first such study on the queer population of the country. I found, read, and summarized about a hundred studies on LGB and TGE suicidality risk and protective factors.
I also worked briefly for Princeton adjunct Robin Gomila and Teacher College’s Dr.
Gushue. I became proficient in R and Qualtrics in helping edit Robin’s statistical methods textbook and creating a survey for his study. In Dr. Gushue’s lab, I recruited participants for their studies and presented on relevant papers to the team.
I believe I have the skills necessary to be an asset to your team. I also believe the work you’re doing is important and would appreciate being a part of it.
