James Matthews

I majored in Chemical Engineering at the University of Mississippi. I have experience working with groups as well as leading others throughout varies case studies and design projects. I am interested in working in pharmaceutical production, chemical labs, manufacturing, energy development, environmental control, pharmaceutical production, and I am also interested in branching out to other options.

I hope to gain knowledge from future mentors within the field of engineering and further develop my skills in an engineering workplace. I have gained knowledge of mechanical engineering as a process engineer for Mohawk however I hope to gain knowledge as a chemical engineer in the future.

As a process engineer I

• Developed SOPs, OPLs, and line recipes to improve the workflow of operators on the line and to assist in creating a smooth transition to change
• Maintained manufacturing lines by fixing and improving the current process.
• Designed an automatic slip spray system to lessen down time, increase productivity, and ensure safety of operators.
• Lead both morning meetings on the lines and monthly safety meetings to ensure an efficient and safe work environment.
• Improved current paint operations by changing the application method and helped implement 5S to improve the machines productivity and organization 

Chemical Engineering Major at University of Mississippi

• Hand on experience with pressure drop, flash vaporization, wetted wall absorption, lab scale heat exchanger and CSTR, and isotropic membrane gas separation.
