K-12 Certified Teacher who conducts a comprehensive educational program that includes: assessing students' academic and habilitative needs, implementing the curriculum including long range plans and short term objectives and lesson plans, using a research based model to develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies, complying with IDEA regulations, and providing professional assistance to students in response to their individual developmental needs.
Responsibilities may include: feeding, toileting, lifting, and behavior management. Conducts student assessments, prepares and implements the IEP, maintains student data including attendance, progress on IEP goals, and progress on curriculum goals in alignment with state standards. Possesses the ability to plan IEP's and carry out educational programming to meet students' needs to develop their pre-vocational skills.
Familiar with implementation of an academic/functional program for students in accordance with established curriculum standards as specified by the NC Department of Education.
Developed and maintained a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
Prepared lesson plans and consulted with the school principal when necessary to develop instructional approaches to support student learning for classes assigned.
Implemented structured response to intervention models, data, graphic organizers and groupings to address student skill development.
Employed instructional techniques and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Monitored student progress and participated in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate.
Consulted with other professional staff in the diagnosis of learning disorders, and evaluation of student progress, and developed remediation plans where needed.
Maintained accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
