Kayla Phelps

Hi my name is Kayla! I have worked in women's health, specifically in the birth world for over five years as a registered nurse. Three and a half of those years was at a high risk hospital that did 10,000 births per year.

Two and a half years was at a freestanding birth center which did about 30 births per month. I am seeking a certified nurse-midwife position that is strongly rooted in evidence-based care. My goal is to provide care to expectant families from pregnancy through postpartum and provide gynecological care throughout the lifespan.

I am excited to join a practice that values relationships with patients and coworkers to create a highly functional and satisfying work environment.

Birth Assistant at The Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health November 2019-March 2022

• Largest free-standing birth center in America, with approx. 400 births per year. Performed intermittent auscultation, natural induction, labor support, water births, and assisted in transfer to the hospital for increased level of care when necessary. Provided care to both mother and baby at their 24 hour home-visit which included newborn screening.

Charge RN, Labor and Delivery at Magee Womens Hospital October 2017- November 2020

• 28 bed high-risk labor unit with approx. 10,000 births per year. Provided labor support, continuous fetal monitoring, induction of labor, and managed obstetrical emergencies. Worked in triage and in the OR as a circulating nurse.
