Adventure Treks, Instructor Summer 2023 

• Instructed teens ages 11 to 16 on backpacking and sea kayaking expeditions, rock climbing and whitewater techniques, and the basics of planning and preparing for backcountry excursions
• Shaped and influenced group dynamics among student groups of 24 students from across the globe within a team of 6 instructors
• Planed and executed meal plans for trips between 16 and 24 days for 30 people in backcountry and front country environments

• Built and executed trip plans by gathering gear, planning for meals, and identifying routes for groups of between two and ten participants to ensure the group is well prepared
• Taught valuable outdoors skills such as paddling technique, climbing technique, cooking in the backcountry, and proper bag packing through structured lessons to provide knowledge needed to safely travel in the backcountry
• Mentored incoming freshman by providing a safe space to ask questions and facilitating peer connections during preorientation to provide participants with a sense of place and belonging in up-state New York and Colgate

• Supplemented and adapted chemistry and biology instruction through creating practice questions and summarizing lectures to make course content more accessible to students in chemistry 101, 102; organic chemistry 263, & 264; biology 182

• Facilitated beginner biology students through exercises designed to stimulate critical thinking and problem solving and provide support for additional learning outside the classroom

• Prepared and assembled surgical supplies for a range of surgical specialties including Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, General surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, and Otolaryngology
• Assisted in operating room transitions and aided scrub nurses in locating and acquiring specific and specialized surgical equipment
