I am currently a full-time office manager and paralegal for a criminal defense firm, seeking part-time freelance work.
With over 15 years of experience in the legal field—and more than a decade working alongside my current attorney—I have developed a deep understanding of the unique demands of a fast-paced, successful law practice. As the Office Manager, I oversee the daily operations, wearing many hats to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
My role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including:
Financial Management: I handle all of the finances, including bookkeeping, billing, budgeting, payroll, and the meticulous management of our IOLTA (trust) account.
Facilities and Operations: I maintain our beautiful office space - from managing office supplies, equipment, and technology to coordinating landscaping and janitorial services. If something breaks, I fix it or find someone who can.
Regulatory Compliance: I ensure compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards, including the maintenance of attorney CLE records.
Human Resources: I play a key role in recruitment and hiring, helping select attorneys and support staff. I also manage employee onboarding.
Legal & Administrative Support: I provide comprehensive support to attorneys, including case management, calendaring, client communications, and document preparation. I assist attorneys in trial preparation - organizing exhibits, drafting and service of subpoenas, and coordinating witnesses.
Marketing: I manage our online presence, maintaining our website and overseeing our social media accounts and Google Business listing.
In short, I’m the behind-the-scenes force making sure everything – and everyone – stays on track.
