I have been teaching physical education since February 1996. I began teaching at Bronx Science High School and then went on to teach at Alfred E. Smith CTE High School since September 1996 to the present.
I have the students do a physical fitness course before they move on to organized sports, such as football, soccer, basketball, wiffleball/softball. I think the physical fitness part, let students know where they are physically and what they can work on. I teach the human body associated with the exercises being performed, and students run every day to get their heart and lungs working and getting them in the best shape of their lives before moving on but at least still having 2 days out of the week for physical fitness.
Before becoming a Teacher, I was a Police Officer in Suffolk County, but teaching kept calling me back. Been teaching all type of sports and fitness, I have coached or been on the coaching staff the following teams: Football, Girls Volleyball, Softball, and Tennis. Looking to keep teaching for many more years to come.
My Master's in Educational Technology from Ramapo College in New Jersey. It was at the beginning of the technology in the classrooms, so it was very interesting.
