Throughout my collegiate and professional experience, I have learned the best path to success is to work hard, seek new challenges and be proactive to learn as much as I can.
Given my interest in fashion, I attended the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in NYC, majoring in Fashion Marketing. After graduating with a BBA in Fashion Marketing I was provided with the opportunity to intern at The RJM Group, a brand management and consulting firm catering to luxury footwear and accessory brands. As a result of my internship, the RJM Group took me on as an account executive for several of their well-known brands.
I was able to see the fashion industry from a sales perspective and all the work that goes into selling and marketing a collection.
While gaining experience in sales and account management, I had the opportunity to work closely with one of their designers, Charles Nolan. Mentors had advised me that to be successful in product development, I needed to understand all that goes into the finished product, such as delivery, quality, and production cost. Fortunately for me, Charles Nolan’s shoe division was just launching and relatively small.
This was my opportunity to gain industry knowledge and experience in the production field. A short time later, I assumed the role of production manager where I served as the liaison between the factory in Italy and the US distribution center.
Hard work and good fortune had led me to my most recent position as a Senior Product Development Manager at Jones Apparel Group. I acted as the liaison to all divisions. My skills in time management, organization and dependability had allowed me to successfully maintain that position for five years. It was an intentional decision to leave Jones Apparel Group and raise my children during the most formative years.
