Working as an android developer I have developed a new data collection system for NEFSC and the Cooperative Research Branch. The application communicates via Bluetooth to 4 different devices: A zebra handheld scanner, 2 different Marel scales, and an inhouse BT device which measures the length of organisms. The data store makes use of ROOM database technology and support tables from NOAA are imported into the application at startup. The next milestone will be to import our data from a REST API, which is how the application currently backs up data. It backs up to a REST API I developed which ‘POSTS’ all of the data to an in-memory database on a laptop in the vessel’s wheelhouse.
