My name is Sarah Jackson and I am a amatur filmmaker. I will be attending NYU majoring in film production in the fall of 2023 on a 73,000$ a year scholarship. Growing up I was a competitive dancer which took up most of my time but I’ve always loved writing stories from a very young age.
When I was 9 years old I created a series of poems in the perspectives of people I saw on the street. The topics ranged from cool teenagers to homeless people and then I went on to writing short stories. In the 7th grade I was in the play Hair Spray at my school and saw the transformation of how lines on a paper turned into a new reality and it encouraged me to do the same with my stories.
It was not an easy field to dive into but I started officially being trained with cameras in the 11th grade and I was able to attend NYU Future Filmmakers Program. My goal is to remind people that our motive behind filmaking is to capture and tell real stories.
I’m currently a Documentary filmmaker for New River Church. The head of media at Bullhorn Teenage News Paper Company. Intern at local news station;WHYY, representing Youth Set The Stage. Founder of Podcast, High School House Talk.
