I am an ex-teacher and am currently working to earn CPA certification with the ultimate goal of becoming a forensic accountant. I spent some time in law school before realizing my affinity for numbers does not comport with being an attorney. I want to do the investigating involved in discovering financial malfeasance for lawyers to consult when handling white collar crime cases.
I believe my background in economics and finance, combined with my time in law school, have prepared me to be an excellent financial investigator.
After college, I joined Teach For America in Brooklyn, New York as a high school math teacher. I then earned a Master of Health Administration, which set me up to become a senior accountant at OhioHealth. I tried returning to teaching, but have recently begun earning my CPA licensure.
I currently am enrolled in a part-time CPA-Prep program through Columbus State Community College. I completed my 1L year at Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law. My first exposure to accounting came as an undergraduate at the Johns Hopkins University, where I earned a BA in economics with a minor in finance. While studying there, I completed a summer analyst internship at JPMorgan Chase investment bank. That internship was very accounting focused.
