Selected as the Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management/Chief of Police for the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System (SMHS). SMHS operates an 800 bed hospital in Sarasota, a stand-alone Emergency Room in North Port, and 20 other business offices and urgent care centers throughout Sarasota County. As Director/Chief the team is responsible for the safety and security of 90,000 patients, 6,200 employees, and over 3 million square feet of property.
SMHS employs 54 Public Safety Officers – 26 are armed police officers, 24 are entrance screeners, and the remaining are committed to Emergency Management.

Appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan as Secretary of DPSCS to manage a $1.4 Billion Budget with over 10,000 employees in January 2015. DPSCS manages 23 State Prisons, 45 Parole and Probation Offices, the Baltimore City Jail, the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commissions (responsible for the certification of 8,000 Police Officers and 18,000 Correctional Officers), the Maryland 911 Board, the Criminal Injuries and Compensation Board, the DPSCS Internal Investigation Unit (50 Police Officers), the DPSCS Intelligence Unit (50 Intelligence Analyst), Administrative Services Bureau (Human Resources, Information Technology, Procurement, Budget, Finance, Fleet, Food Services), the Maryland Parole Commission, the Maryland Sex Offender Database, and multiple support service units. DPSCS is responsible for safely managing and directing more than 21,000 inmates in prison and for supervising more than 40,000 on Parole and Probation throughout the State.

Selected to be the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Sarasota where responsibilities included directing 176 officers and 41 civilian support staff through five direct reports to carry out the vision of the Chief of Police. SPD operated with a $29 million budget. Responsibilities included oversight of all criminal investigations and patrol responsibilities.
Security Director - University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) - Baltimore, MD

Developed an outstanding, well trained, security operation that resulted in 7,000 employees, visitors and patients who occupy 700 beds feel secure and safe.
