Maintenance Technician I at Serta Simmons Bedding (2024-03 – Present)

Serta Simmons Bedding manufactures all Serta, Beautyrest, Simmons, and Tuft & Needles mattresses. These are among some of the top-selling brands at Rooms2Go and MattressFirm distributors.

• My responsibilities as a technician include maintaining all sewing machines, quilting machines, glue apparatuses, automatic assembly machines, conveyors, automatic bagging and sealing machines, and mattress-specific equipment such as a roll-coating machine for iComfort assembly. There are also a number of pneumatic tools used for stapling in foundation and mattress areas that are my responsibility.
• On premises SSB also possesses a second processing plant in which they make the pocket-coils used in their mattress technology. These Lian Rou and Zhejiang pocket coiling machines and assemblers are also part of my responsibilities.
• Lastly, all equipment set-up, plant repair, etcetera are my responsibility as well. In my year here we have made three large-scale plant renovations that I was largely involved in from the bottom up.

Maintenance Supervisor at Carolina Covertech (2023-03 – 2024-03)

Carolina Covertech is a company that works largely with textiles and polyurea spray coatings. As supervisor my duty was to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and continues to provide the best quality product to our customers. This includes our School Safety line of products as well.

• Perform all Preventative Maintenance procedures on the RF sealing equipment, sewing machines, polyurea spray pumps, grommet and snap machines, hydraulic presses, automatic cutters, and Eastman automated table.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed to allow for a clean, safe environment for our employees. All equipment events and conditions are recorded in MaintainX, our chosen work-order management software.
• Troubleshoot AC and DC motors, single phase and three phase.
